The department of Home science started its journey in 1989, but became a complete department only in 2009 when major course was introduced. The aim of the department is to creation of human capital by providing equal opportunities in socio economic, cultural and global employment market through quality education. The department has a well-equipped laboratory. However even with the shortcomings the department has been trying to maintain a standard through hard work of dynamic and efficient teaching faculties. The faculty members of the department have contributed their most productive skills rendering teaching and guiding practical skills to the students of the department and also enable them with entrepreneurial skills at various levels.

Vision and Mission of the Department

Vision : To develop the Human Resource in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics , Food science , Extension Education ,Textiles Science , Child development , Family resource management and Community nutrition .To develop the department a Centre of Excellence in the field of Home Science.

Mission: The mission of the faculty is to strengthen the Skills and potentials of the students through Scientifics Principles, Knowledge and experience acquired for a happy life. To empower them with the knowledge to become self-independent and a disciplined citizen of the society.

• B.A. in Home Science (3 years degree course, Honours)
• UGC Sponsored six month diploma course in Baking.
• 6 months certificate course in beautician (Cosmetology)
• Weaving
• Cutting and Dress Making

The Department of Home Science was established in the year 1989, the department is actively involved in teaching and extension activities. The department aims to provide the coming generation with the best knowledge and hands-on experience of programs that will pave their ways towards success and growth. Home Science is an interdisciplinary field that prepares young learners for the important goals in their lives-caring for their homes and family as well as preparing for a career or vocation in life. The areas of Home Science includes Food and Nutrition, Clothing and Textile, Human Development, Family Resource Management, Extension Education.
