Since its inception Digboi Mahila Mahavidyalaya has been committed to higher education and women empowerment. The college, despite all odds, has been able to march ahead in its journey setting benchmark in results and other accomplishments.
About Digboi Mahila Mahavidyalaya
Digboi Mahila Mahavidyalaya is a women’s college which offers Higher Secondary courses and Bachelor degree courses in the field of humanities. It was established in the year 1981 by a group of prominent citizens of Digboi under the able leadership of Dwijesh Chandra Deb Sarmah in order to promote women education in the region. Swarnalata Gogoi was the founder principal of the college, and later on it was developed and nurtured by Dr. Kanteswar Deka into its current prestgious position. Digboi Mahila Mahavidyalaya boasts 11 departments – 9 departments (Assamese, Economics, Education, English, Home Science, Philosophy, Political Science, History and Sociology) offer Honours courses to the students, and the remaining two departments (Bengali and Hindi) offer General courses. The college is blessed with dedicated and highly-qualified faculty members across every department, and its students have consistently performed excellent results at all levels.

Digboi Mahila Mahavidyalaya is a premier seat of higher education for girls in Upper Assam. It was established on 24th July, 1981. Digboi, the oldest oil town of the country has a glorious background in the history of education in the State and this college has contributed immensely towards the promotion of education, more particularly women.
