The Department of Community Science (Previously known as Home science) started its journey in 1989, but became a complete department only in 2009 when major course was introduced. The aim of the department is to creation of human capital by providing equal opportunities in socio economic, cultural and global employment market through quality education. The department has a well-equipped laboratory. However even with the shortcomings the department has been trying to maintain a standard through hard work of dynamic and efficient teaching faculties. The faculty members of the department have contributed their most productive skills rendering teaching and guiding practical skills to the students of the department and also enable them with entrepreneurial skills at various levels.

Vision and Mission of the Department

Vision : To develop the Human Resource in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics , Food science , Extension Education ,Textiles Science , Child development , Family resource management and Community nutrition .To develop the department a Centre of Excellence in the field of Home Science.

Mission: The mission of the faculty is to strengthen the Skills and potentials of the students through Scientifics Principles, Knowledge and experience acquired for a happy life. To empower them with the knowledge to become self-independent and a disciplined citizen of the society.
