HODs Message:
The Dept of Philosophy in Digboi Mahila Mahavidyalaya exists since its inception. Philosophy is the study to deal with the fundamental and general problems of life like values, existence, reasons, knowledge and the mind. Study of Philosophy benefits the students intellectually, spiritually and morally. They can learn about the origin of those ideas, and concepts which are the basic humanistic vocabulary. It also develops critical and logical thinking, analytical ability, skill for communication, problem solving through persuasive argumentation and thereby creates an environment for developing themselves as better human beings.
We, in the Department of philosophy emphasise to improve students’ skill —
- To acquire the ability to think logically.
- To access, analyse and solve both mundane and abstract problems from different perspectives.
- To liberate from prejudices.
- To broaden the perspective of life by making them aware of their inner potentiality.
Besides giving tutorials on Philosophy in the classroom, the department organises various activities like visiting to the nearby schools and orphanages, mixing up with their students and boarders and imparting skill and sharing of knowledge as a process of making them aware of their social responsibilities.
