NSS UNIT, DIGBOI MAHILA MAHAVIDYALAYA

The National Service Scheme is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports popularly known as NSS, was formally launched on 24th September, 1969.  It provides opportunity to the students of higher secondary, degree and postgraduate programmes studying in senior secondary schools, colleges and universities of India to take part in various governments led community service activities & programmes.  It inculcates the spirit of voluntary work among students and teachers through sustained community interaction. It brings our academic institutions closer to the society.

The NSS Unit of DigboiMahilaMahavidyalayawas established in the year 1989 and has today comprising of 100+ volunteers.NSS volunteers generally work in villages, slums and voluntary agencies to complete 120 hours of regular activities during an academic year. As per the fundamental principles of National Service Scheme, a volunteer is expected to remain in constant touch with the community. The Unit has adopted villages namely Kherjaanand  3. No Borbilgaon, where the volunteers perform different activities. It is a link between the campus and community, the college and village, knowledge and action. The overall aim of NSS unit is the Personality Development of students through community service. It gives an extension dimension to Higher Education system and orients the student youth to community service.
